Our Fair Housing Policy

Every person deserves equal access to housing. That belief is at the foundation of everything we do.

Our Commitment

Home 1st Real Estate is committed to providing equal professional service to all clients and customers, without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, familial status, or any other class protected by law.

We are a locally owned, Michigan-based brokerage and we hold ourselves to the highest standard of fair, honest, and respectful service. For every person, every time.

Federal Fair Housing Law

The Fair Housing Act (42 U.S.C. § 3601 et seq.) prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of housing based on the following protected classes:

Race

Color

National Origin

Religion

Sex

Disability

Familial Status

Familial status includes families with children under the age of 18, pregnant persons, and persons in the process of securing legal custody of a child.

Michigan State Law

Home 1st Real Estate also complies with the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act and all applicable Michigan state fair housing laws, which extend additional protections beyond the federal Fair Housing Act.

Michigan law prohibits discrimination in housing based on religion, race, color, national origin, age, sex, height, weight, familial status, marital status, and disability.

Our Commitment in Practice

We provide equal access to all listings, services, and information to every client regardless of protected class.

We do not steer clients toward or away from any neighborhood based on the racial, ethnic, or religious composition of that area.

We do not represent that a neighborhood is undergoing demographic change in order to induce a transaction.

We present all offers and counteroffers honestly and without bias.

All Home 1st Real Estate agents are required to complete ongoing Fair Housing education in compliance with National Association of REALTORS® requirements.

We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for discriminatory conduct by any member of our team.
